Q2 Recap- Letter from the CEO
- 08/02/2012
Unless you've been under a rock lately you've heard this before: "[Insert Name of Company Here]'s data is breached and thousands of people's info is exposed. " Every week we're reminded of the data loss risks that the global economy and digital age has on business. And unfortunately this is nothing new. A routine check for sensitive information by Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in New York revealed that a PowerPoint presentation that was posted on two medical professional websites in 2006 contained embedded private information. The information included patient names, phone numbers, addresses, and in some cases, Social Security numbers. A total of five PowerPoint files contained sensitive information. The largest file had data from 568 patients from various states; the second largest contained 112. Three others contained the data of 37, 59, and 112 individuals. [Source: PHIPrivacy.net]
Information Security Staffing – The Paradigm Shift
Organizations across industries are challenging the current paradigms of how they design, operate and approach information and network security programs. The shift is taking place from information security living within the information technology department to a business focused role that demands meaningful analytics that show the potential risk profile and acceptable risk treatment recommendations. As with any organizational process, it is impossible to effectively manage what you cannot accurately measure.
In 2012, BEW's hiring efforts have been innovative, expanding outside the traditional information roles of security engineering, analysts and architectural roles. We are adding staff with extensive backgrounds in program management, business intelligence and exposure to ISO based quality management systems. The combination of our current security professionals and business analysts is yielding unprecedented results that improve the overall customer experience through quality management and innovation. Our goal is to push this paradigm shift and ensure information and network security is interwoven into the core business processes that demand protection, risk reduction and improvement of operational efficiency.
BEW Global's 2012 Growth & Intelisecure Team Expansion
With this ever increasing need for data protection it is clear that DLP is more than a '30 minute installation' and 'out-of-the-box' solution, which has translated into macro growth for BEW Global. Year over year from 2011, BEW Global's revenue has more than doubled- that's 102% growth to be exact. We have also quadrupled our staff since 2011 and are currently looking to hire more top talent. Even with this vast growth, we continue to be very selective about our staff as we pride ourselves on being the DLP experts.
A major portion of BEW Global's growth has been from our Intelisecure managed services practice, which has grown more than 10 times over the past year. Many IT Security professionals are seeing they don't have the expertise, time or resources to effectively manage their DLP system, so they've turned to BEW. To keep up with this demand, we've revamped our Intelisecure organizational structure to ensure maximum protection.
Sincerely,
Robert Eggebrecht
President & CEO
